Funded by Central Tablelands Local Land Services, these grants will assist private land managers to improve, protect and extend the condition of box gum grassy woodland threatened ecological communities and core koala habitat.

Program objective
Enhance koala habitat by:
- increasing connectivity across the property through re-vegetation activities, or
- fencing out remnant vegetation to exclude stock access.
Enhance box gum grassy woodland threatened ecological community habitat through:
- re-vegetation activities extending known travelling stock reserves box gum grassy woodland communities onto private property, and/or
- fencing out patches of remnant vegetation.
This program is administered by Local Land Services.
Eligibility
Grants are available to private land managers in the Central Tablelands Local Land Services region for projects to enhance box gum grassy woodland threatened ecological communities or core koala habitat.
Who can apply
Owners of targeted properties that are:
- greater than 2 hectares and
- located adjacent to either a travelling stock reserve of high conservation value or core koala habitat within the Rockley Mount area.
Who can’t apply
You are cannot apply if:
you are not the owner of the land
your property is located outside the Central Tablelands Local Land Services region
you have overdue or non-compliant contracts with Local Land Services
you have outstanding debt, including rates, owing to Local Land Services
you do not meet the project standards and eligibility criteria.
Types of projects funded under this grant
Stock-proof fencing to control stock access to existing native vegetation/woodland or revegetation sites.
Planting native trees and shrubs to enhance or buffer woodland areas for corridor or cluster tree planting and scattered paddock tree planting projects.
Ongoing management where stock are excluded from the project area.
What you can’t apply for
boundary fencing
plantings that do not link to the travelling stock reserve or koala habitat
non-compliant fencing materials (such as barbed wire)
non-native/endemic species plantings
works outside the targeted areas.
Example projects
scattered paddock tree plantings, cluster plantings and corridor plantings
remnant vegetation protective fencing
existing fenced-out area re-vegetation.

Address the eligibility criteria
To be eligible for this incentive funding:
- any Central Tablelands Local Land Services (CT LLS) or previous Catchment Management Authority agreements must be complete
- payment of any Local Land Services rates must be up to date
- public liability insurance to the value of $10 million dollars is required
- you must be able to complete your project by 31 May 2023
- your project area must be greater than 2 hectares and located adjacent to an existing TSR, shelterbelt or roadside biodiversity corridor within the priority areas of the CT LLS region
- you must construct fencing with new materials and manage it in a stock-proof condition for the duration of the Land Management Agreement.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: Katie McPherson, Senior Land Services Officer
You will receive notification from Local Land Services when your expression of interest has been assessed. The notification will inform you about the outcome of your application and the next steps, including a site visit.
Once we have reviewed your application and confirmed you meet the eligibility criteria, a case officer will visit the project site and do an assessment. The assessment uses an ESR method, which takes into consideration the existing condition of the site.
