Program objective
As part of its reform of the greyhound racing industry, the NSW Government committed $30 million for conditional capital grants to assist Greyhound Racing NSW and its clubs upgrade greyhound racetrack facilities to make them safer for greyhounds.
This program is funded and administered by Office of Racing.
Eligibility
Who can apply
- Greyhound Racing NSW, on behalf of greyhound racing clubs, in line with its Track Safety and Welfare Strategy.
Who can’t apply
- Greyhound racing clubs cannot apply directly and must liaise with Greyhound Racing NSW.
- Individuals are not eligible to apply.
Types of projects funded under this grant
Funding can be used for infrastructure projects to improve safety at track facilities for greyhounds.
Project costs may include construction and the purchase of capital equipment.
Examples of projects include:
- track safety upgrades
- track irrigation works
- starting box infrastructure
- track surface drainage works
- track remediation works.
What can’t you apply for
Projects to enhance greyhound racing facilities for patrons are outside the scope of the Greyhound Racing Capital Grants Program, but may be eligible for funding through Greyhound Racing NSW's Greyhound Industry Future Fund.

Prepare your application with this checklist
Greyhound Racing NSW is required to provide a business case for each proposed project, including the project scope and cost estimate.
Applications must include:
- a business case setting out the scope of works, developed in consultation with the greyhound racing club responsible for the venue
- an audit of the venue against the minimum track safety standards developed by Greyhound Racing NSW
- a matrix demonstrating how the project will address any deficiencies in the venue’s compliance against the minimum standards, as well as anticipated future projects, and timing, to address any residual deficiencies
- confirmation from the Greyhound Welfare & Integrity Commission that it was consulted on the project.

Greyhound Racing NSW may apply for Grants Program Funding for projects listed in its Track Safety and Welfare Strategy.
The Track Strategy lists the infrastructure projects planned to support greyhound racing venues to meet track standards. It prioritises Grants Program funding and is aligned with GRNSW’s Strategic Plan.
