The focus of this project will be to restore and protect riparian areas to improve catchment health of waterways in the Northern Tablelands region.

Program objective
This project is the continuation of a registered distributed expression of interest that will competitively rank individual projects. It is anticipated that on ground riparian restoration work and incentive payments will include:
- fencing to exclude or manage livestock
- provision of alternative water sources such as dams and troughs
- weed control for revegetation
- revegetation
- sub-catchment rehydration works.
This program is funded and administered by Local Land Services.

Program evaluation
The Healthy Rivers projects has been a success due to many factors. These include:
- A broad project management plan that has allowed for investment in new areas and issues.
- Consistent community enagement and tailored community events for maximum interest and consultation.
- Reliable funding across multiple years to allow landholders to focus on long-term environmental benefits.
- The partnership with GWYMAC Landcare and the Mulloon Institute. This partnership will investigate options to increase hydration in the landscape which is a key step in to progress rehydration-style catchment planning within the Northern Tablelands.
