Program objective
The objectives of the program are to:
- Deliver a dynamic and diverse range of screen and digital games experiences to communities across NSW
- Contribute to the growth and sustainability of a vibrant and accessible screen and digital games sector
- Support employment, professional connection and networks, and sustainable career pathways for NSW-based screen practitioners through funding professional development and career escalation opportunities
- Support the growth and impact of NSW-based organisations across the screen and digital games sector
- Support collaboration, business opportunities and partnerships across the NSW screen, games, and creative industries.

Funding for the Industry Development Program is open to:
- Not for profit incorporated bodies or companies
- Co-operatives, trusts or local government authorities
- A consortium or a group of organisations working collaboratively
Applicants must be an Australian organisation with an ABN.
To be eligible for funding, organisations must be legally constituted. Applicants need to provide proof of their legal status.
Applicants must be an Australia-based organisation also adhere to the general eligibility requirements under the Screen NSW Terms of Trade.
Types of projects funded under this grant
Funding is available for activities that enhance the NSW screen ecosystem and increase screen professional development opportunities.
Eligible one-off or annual events include:
- Workshops
- Masterclasses
- Forums or industry conferences
- Talent or project development labs
- Targeted professional development activities.
What your application needs to include
Prepare your application with this checklist
Support material plays a vital role in how we understand and assess your application. Choose high-quality support material that is concise, current and directly relevant to your application.
Support material for proposals involving the First Nations arts and cultural sector and/or First Nations people, organisations and cultural material must include letters of support and confirmation of involvement from the relevant communities and/or organisations (see NSW Aboriginal Arts and Cultural Protocols).
Other support material may include:
- A program of activities
- A budget
- Relevant and recent examples of your artistic work (images, video, recordings, written material or links to websites)
- A brief biography or CV for any screen practitioners or key collaborators involved in the project (maximum one A4 page per person)
- Confirmation letters and/or letters of support related to your project (provided as one document), such as from partners, venues, key sector contacts or other funding agencies.
Address the eligibility criteria
Each applicant, as part of an application response, must confirm that they meet the eligibility criteria.
Applicants that do not address the eligibility criteria in full may be excluded from the application process at the department's discretion.

To apply for funding, you will need to complete and submit an application form through our secure online grants system SmartyGrants. It is a one stage application process.
Note: If you are a new applicant to SmartyGrants, you will need to register and create a password. If you are already registered, you can log in with your existing username and password.

After the application is submitted
Successful applications will be decided by: Chief Executive of Create NSW
Once your application has been submitted, you will receive an email confirmation from our secure online grants system, SmartyGrants.
Applications will be initially reviewed by Screen NSW staff to ensure they meet eligibility requirements, and all application materials are acceptable.
After eligibility is confirmed, the application will be evaluated by an assessment panel including a minimum of one Screen NSW staff member and at least two external industry experts.
Please note that funding allocation follows a competitive process. Evaluations will consider the assessment criteria outlined above, the industry’s need for the services being offered, and the availability of funds at Screen NSW.
Successful applications will be approved by the Chief Executive of Create NSW, or their delegate, based on the recommendations of the assessment panel. The assessment process will take up to 9 weeks from the application closing date.
