Program objective
The following are objectives under the RIEP Grants Program 2024-25:
- Industry connections: To provide students with first hand exposure to industries, helping them understand the practical applications of academic knowledge.
- Career exploration: To assist students in exploring a wide range of career paths, enabling them to make informed decisions about their future.
- Industry-school partnerships: To establish and strengthen partnerships between schools and industries, fostering a collaborative environment for student development.
- Equity and access: To ensure all students, regardless of their socio-economic background or location, have equal access to these opportunities.
- Skill development: To equip students with relevant skills and competencies, thereby increasing their employability.
- Real world learning opportunities: To offer students opportunities for work experience, apprenticeships or traineeships, providing them with real world learning experiences.
- Mentorship: To facilitate mentorship opportunities where industry professionals support students, providing insights into the industry and career guidance.
- Curriculum delivery: To collaborate with industry partners to enhance school curriculum delivery, ensuring it is aligned with current industry trends and demands.
- Student engagement: To increase student engagement and motivation by demonstrating the relevance of their studies to potential career paths.
These objectives aim to bridge the gap between education and industry, preparing students for the workforce and helping them navigate their career paths effectively.

Eligibility
The following organisations are eligible applicants:
- NSW schools: government or registered non-government schools with student enrolments in Stages 4, 5 or 6 (school Years 7 to 12)
- Incorporated charities or not-for-profit entities registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC), Office of the Registrar of Indigenous Corporations, NSW Fair Trading or other equivalent regulatory bodies
- Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) that are current contracted NSW Smart and Skilled providers under normal operations with no serious compliance or quality issues identified
- Businesses registered with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) and classed as a small business under the Australian Tax Office (ATO) definition (annual turnover of $10 million or less)
- Local Government.
All non-school applicants must demonstrate commitment to Child Safe Standards.

Applications for the RIEP Grants Program 2024–25 are by invitation only.

If you are invited to apply, you will receive a link to the RIEP SmartyGrants online portal. You will need to register for an account or log in if you have an existing SmartyGrants account from another grant application.
All applications must be submitted through the SmartyGrants online portal. Applications received by email, post or any other means will be deemed ineligible.
Key dates
- Open: 1 October 2024, 10.00am AEST
- Closes: 28 March 2025, 3.59pm AEDT
- Projects must start before 30 June 2025 and complete by 19 December 2025.
Assessment process
All applications will undergo an eligibility assessment and, if eligible, they will then be assessed against the assessment criteria detailed in the program guidelines.
