Program objective
The NSW Sexual Violence Project Fund will feature almost $10 million in grants.
In this Fund, ‘sexual violence’ is used as an umbrella term to describe acts of a sexual nature that happen without consent. It includes acts that are criminal offences, such as sexual assault and child sexual abuse, and acts that are not criminal offences, for example sexual harassment in the form of unwanted comments and leering. Sexual violence not only comprises physical, but also non-physical acts and behaviours, such as image-based sexual abuse. It can range from a single instance of harassment or assault to abuse perpetrated over long periods.
Early intervention (also known as secondary prevention) refers to strategies that identify and aim to address the early signs of violence to stop it from escalating or prevent it from recurring. It includes prevention among high-risk groups and settings, changing the trajectory of violence and preventing the progression of violence.
Response efforts (also referred to as tertiary prevention) involve intervening once the violence is already occurring and aims to support victim-survivors and hold perpetrators to account.
The Fund is expected to be released in late February 2023 and will provide almost $10 million in grants to support projects for up to two years focusing on high priority groups and settings.
The information received in your registration of interest will support Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) to refine the NSW Sexual Violence Project Fund grant guidelines and best meet identified needs, improving the responsiveness and relevance of the Fund.
This program is funded and administered by Department of Communities and Justice.

At this stage, organisations are invited to register their interest in applying for funding and provide information about their areas of work.
The registration of interest seeks to capture information on the sector and organisations that are interested in applying for grants under the Sexual Violence Project Fund.
DCJ wants to identify:
- your organisation's willingness to apply for funding
- geographic location
- focus areas
- whether your organisation intends to apply for funding for sexual violence:
- early interventions
- response projects, or
- both.
The information received will support DCJ to refine the grant guidelines and best meet identified needs, improving the responsiveness and relevance of the Fund.
