About the Project

The Katoomba Town Centre Place Activation Project delivers high street, arts and culture and community infrastructure improvements across Katoomba Town Centre. The project expands and improves the function and use of the Katoomba village and meets the needs for local amenity and a rapid growth in tourism. 

Project Scope

  • Major artwork on the existing Katoomba Street clock arch

  • Footpath, kerb, and gutter upgrades

  • Threshold treatments for pedestrians and introduction of shared zone.

  • Pedestrian wayfinding

  • Outdoor public dining area 

  • Street trees and garden bed landscaping

  • Public art activation

  • Public lighting

  • Improved outdoor events space including cellular grass grid, electrical outlets, and flexible railing for crowd control

  • Smart Cities Technology Package including parking sensors, pedestrian sensors, air quality sensors, weather reporting and smart lighting.
