About the Project

The Deane Street Precinct Transformation Project transforms Deane Street into a vibrant and colourful public space with alfresco dining areas, spaces for resting and play and improved pedestrian safety. The project creates an iconic new food and entertainment destination in the heart of Burwood Town Centre.

Project Scope

The project features:

  • New urban pedestrian plaza

  • Category two shared pedestrian zone

  • Kerb extensions to allow for alfresco dining opportunities 

  • Landscaping, tree canopy shade and seating

  • Bicycle parking and repair station

  • Pavement treatment and lighting 

  • Streetscape upgrades with new unit paved footpaths, kerb and gutter and street furniture

  • Road conversion to two-way traffic (George Street) and kerb realignment 

  • Taxi rank relocation

  • Signalised intersection
