About the Project
The Campbelltown Health and Education Precinct (CHEP) Project delivers active transport infrastructure and wayfinding initiatives to improve links between key facilities within the Campbelltown Health and Education Precinct (CHEP), including Campbelltown Hospital, Macarthur Clinical School, Macarthur Medical Research Centre, WSU Campbelltown, and TAFE Campbelltown.
This project will benefit students, workers, residents and visitors of the precinct including people accessing Campbelltown Hospital, Macarthur Square, Market Fair Shopping Centre and Macarthur Train Station.
Key outcomes of the project are:
- increasing the share of walking and cycling trips within the precinct to reduce traffic congestion, activate the precinct and improve health
- cultivating a distinctive precinct identity
- improving wayfinding and creating an attractive public domain
- fostering innovation through connectivity
- reducing traffic constraints on development.
Project Scope
The project delivers:
- Shared pathways along Goldsmith Ave, Gilchrist Dr, Kellicar Rd and between Macarthur Square and Campbelltown Hospital
- Additional shared walking and cycling paths (and upgrade to current paths) to connect the Precinct
- Signalised Crossing changes
- Public art along active transport routes
- Signage and wayfinding cues
- Landscaping
- Lighting improvements on Bolger Street
- Furniture and bike racks
