Parker Street Reserve Sport and Recreation Precinct

About the Project

The Parker Street Reserve Sport and Recreation project will deliver the enhancement of an amenity building including the refurbishment of existing toilets, increased formal car parking and drainage, remediation of playing surfaces and surrounds and associated landscaping. Council will also deliver a new and inclusive playspace within the precinct, meeting Everyone Can Play principles. Tree planting will also be completed to meet Premier’s Priority of Greening our City.  

Council has recently delivered (2023) a  new and accessible four change room amenity building, LED floodlighting, car park resurfacing and the construction of new playing surfaces including irrigation and fencing in the precinct, for community and elite sport. Additional infrastructure is required to meet state sport infrastructure strategies and to further activate the precinct to meet community needs across sport, play and recreation.     

The project embraces Universal Design, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design Principles, Sustainability principles and will support increased participation opportunities for people with disability, women and girls, First Nations peoples and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities.

Project Scope

This project will deliver:

  • Refurbishment of existing amenity building including new toilets; in accordance with design provided to and endorsed by the Department
  • Increased formalised car parking to the south of the site; drainage and circulation improvements to remaining car parks throughout the precinct
  • Construction of accessible pathways to amenities building, car parks and throughout the precinct
  • New playspace including equipment, seating, pathways and shade which meet Everyone Can Play guidelines
  • Landscaping, including surface remediation and tree planting
