Program objective
The purpose of White Spot Recovery Grant is to assist prawn farms on the Clarence River, that have had the majority of their farming operations impacted by white spot syndrome virus (WSSV), to implement farm enhancements or restructure their farming operations to improve the future resilience of their farms to WSSV.
Three farms were directly impacted by the White Spot event of 2023 and were subject to de-stocking and decontamination requirements.
The intended outcomes of the program are the continuation and growth of an aquaculture industry in the Clarence River area that is resilient to future WSSV outbreaks, and a reduced impact of future WSSV outbreaks on the environment and commercial fishers.
This program is funded and administered by Department of Primary Industries.
