Nominations open for FWLHD Volunteer of the Year Award
Nominations have opened for the 2019 Far West Local Health District and Pamela Lord OAM Volunteer of the Year Award. The public are invited to nominate a volunteer or a team of volunteers within the Far West LHD for this award.
'It doesn't seem possible that it's nearly a year since the Patient Family Support Team, Broken Hill volunteers, won the 2018 award,' said Ms Darriea Turley AM, Community Engagement Manager, Far West LHD.
'All of our volunteers do a fantastic job and contribute enormously to the health service and the wider community in their respective areas. We are extremely appreciative of their efforts and commitment and I urge everyone to consider nominating a volunteer and/or team of volunteer,' said Ms Turley.
Broken Hill Health Service volunteers include the Hospital Kiosk volunteers, those who assist the staff at the Mental Health Inpatient Unit and Carers Groups, the Artist in Residence, the Dementia/Delirium & Palliative Care volunteers, Tai Chi Leaders, the Patient Family Support Staff volunteers, our co-located volunteers from Telecross Red Cross, Broken Hill Women's Auxiliary RFDS Hospital visitor Mrs Pam Lord and local club volunteers from the Working Men's club who visit fellow club members who are patients in the hospital. Volunteers from across the LHD also play a valuable role in consumer participation and engagement by being members of their Health Council.
You can download a nomination form on the Far West LHD website at www.fwlhd.health.nsw.gov.au or contact Darriea Turley on +61 429 848 480. Darriea will be happy to assist you with advice on how to nominate a worthy volunteer or volunteer team.
Nominations close 10 May 2019 and the Far West LHD & Pamela Lord Volunteer of the Year will be announced on 25 May 2019 during National Volunteer Week, which runs from 20-26 May 2019.
