More access to health information for people in custody
People in custody in NSW now have greater access to health information following the launch of the Justice Health NSW Patient Information Portal.

Accessed through secure digital tablets provided to people in custody by Corrective Services NSW, the portal contains health information on COVID-19, Aboriginal health, drug and alcohol support, women’s health and mental health.
Chief Executive Wendy Hoey said this was a significant breakthrough that would empower patients to learn more about their health.
“Getting people engaged and interested in their own health is a significant challenge – especially when there are physical barriers that restrict them from doing so,” Chief Executive Hoey said.
“When a patient is more involved and engaged in their own health care, they are far more likely to see improved outcomes.
“By increasing access to basic health information, we aim to educate our patients and prevent chronic illnesses from developing.”
Justice Health NSW has worked closely with Corrective Services NSW on the implementation of the Patient Information Portal.
