Community types

Boarding houses

Boarding houses provide accommodation for a fee. Residents have a right to occupy a room and share other facilities. The Boarding Houses Act 2012 covers 2 types of ‘registrable’ boarding houses – general and assisted.

Community and neighbourhood schemes

This section outlines the rights and responsibilities of those living and working in a community or neighbourhood scheme.

Holiday parks

NSW Fair Trading provides a standard agreement for holiday park stays and rules for disposing of uncollected goods after an agreement ends.

Residential land lease communities

In a land lease community, you own the home but lease the land where the home sits from the community operator. You pay rent for the right to occupy the site with a manufactured home or a moveable dwelling.
