Centre Telephone System (Young People) Procedure

The purpose of this procedure is to provide steps for effectively managing and using the Detainee Telephone System at a Youth Justice NSW Centre for the purpose of providing young people with contact with family, significant others and external stakeholders.

The steps to be taken by staff depend on the role of the staff member. These roles include: Unit Manager, Assistant Unit Manager, Shift Supervisor, Assistant Manager, Duty Manager, Alcohol and Other Drugs Counsellor, Psychologist, admissions staff, and all staff.

The steps to be taken by staff concern:

  • setting up a Detainee Telephone System account
  • adding account details
  • monitoring a call
  • requesting call monitoring
  • report auditing.
