Contraband Procedure

The purpose of this procedure is to provide steps for employees when they locate contraband
during a search or in a Youth Justice Centre.

This procedure specifies steps for staff to take:

  • if they suspect contraband
  • if they find contraband.

These steps include:

  • inform and present the item to the Assistant Manager
  • return or dispose of the item
  • report to the Regional Director
  • report to police
  • complete required documentation
  • inform owner of consequence.
