Mail Handling Procedure

The purpose of this procedure is to provide steps for how to process incoming and outgoing mail for young people in the centres, and to provide steps for the safe and secure processing of general mail addressed to the centre.

This procedure contains two process maps:

  • incoming mail handling procedure for young people in custody
  • outgoing mail handling procedure for young people in custody.

The steps to be taken by staff depend on the role of the staff member.
