Centre Placement Policy

The purpose of this policy is to assist Youth Justice Centre employees to:

• determine the most suitable placement of young people on initial admission into custody
• assess and identify the need to place young people in a specialised unit
• provide protection for vulnerable groups of young people. 

Factors considered in determining placement include:

• facilities at or near the Centre
• security level classification of the Centre
• age and gender
• vulnerability
• cultural identity.
