Child Safety and Mandatory Reporting Policy

This policy provides all Youth Justice NSW employees with information about keeping young people safe from abuse and neglect, and directions on how to respond to child protection concerns.

Youth Justice NSW is committed to being a child-safe organisation and continuously improving the systems we have in place to protect children and meet the recommendations of the Royal Commission into the Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. 

This policy covers the role and responsibility of Youth Justice NSW to: 

  • provide a safe environment and support for young people and their carers
  • identify child protection concerns and protect young people from harm
  • report child protection concerns to relevant authorities.
  • behave professionally.
