Except for short stays of a few hours or overnight, young females will generally only be accommodated in a 'male' centre to facilitate visits with family, court attendance, and pre-release arrangements.
The over-riding principle of this policy is the safety and well-being of young females in male centres. Its purpose is to ensure young females are afforded appropriate care and case management when accommodated in male centres. This policy addresses:
- accommodation and support
- case management
- behaviour management
- facilitating contact and visits.
