NSW residents can visit the website to check what financial support might be available throughout the holidays, including where to ask for help with food and gift vouchers, and access resources for finding work over the holiday period.
The hub also features ideas for affordable gifts, ways to save money on Christmas lunch and links to free events.
Research by the Department of Customer Service shows 55% of people are concerned about their finances ahead of the holiday season and 56% intend to spend less money over this year’s festive period.
While the festive season can be a time for celebration, it can also place pressure on families and individuals. The Cost of Living hub now contains links to relationship and mental health support through government and non-government led services. It also includes information about how to stay on top of your finances.
The NSW Government launched the Cost of Living hub in August 2023 with a focus on helping people save money on food and groceries, housing, health care and energy and utilities. More than 150,000 people have already visited the website.
The hub includes links to tools and calculators, including the NSW Government’s FuelCheck app, which helps motorists find the best value fuel, and MoneySmart calculators to assist with budgeting and credit over the holidays.

Minister for Customer Service and Digital Government Jihad Dib said:
“It’s a time for celebration, but we also know many people may be feeling financial pressures during the festive season, which is why we’ve expanded the Cost of Living hub to link people to information on how to save money and where to find assistance.”
“The hub has links to popular events in NSW during the festive season, including free and low-cost activities for families and individuals, and information on how to get the best value with budget Christmas recipes and holiday hosting hacks.”
“We are hoping these expanded resources will help more people start the new year on the front foot financially.”
