Sydney-siders congratulated Australian women’s netball team, the Diamonds, for their recent World Cup win at a public celebration in Martin Place.

The Diamonds, who claimed a third consecutive Netball world Cup title against New Zealand, were honoured on stage with a victory ceremony.

Australian Diamonds Coach Lisa Alexander said the public's support played a large part in their World Cup triumph.

“It’s an honour to be invited by NSW Premier, the Honourable Mike Baird MP to Sydney to celebrate the Australian Diamonds’ Netball World Cup victory with our friends, family and fans,” Ms Alexander said.

The World Cup final match played in front of a world record crowd of 16,849 in Sydney on 16 August.
