A trial in Dubbo will help the NSW Government plan for the rollout of digital driver licences in NSW by 2019.
Motorists in Dubbo are invited to participate in the digital driver licence trial in November 2017.
The first of its kind in Australia, the trial will allow participants to use their digital driver licence for proof of identity and age to gain entry into pubs and clubs as well for roadside police checks.
To access their digital driver licence, motorists must install the trial app, register a MyServiceNSW account and add their NSW driver licence details.
Minister for Roads, Maritime and Freight Melinda Pavey said a person’s driver licence was an important proof of identity document.
“This trial is an opportunity to demonstrate the additional levels of identity security and increased protection against identity fraud that a digital licence provides compared to a physical one,” Mrs Pavey said.
