Applications are now open for the second round of the Quality Learning Environments program that will provide funding to enhance the physical environment of community preschools.
In the second round of the program, grants will be allocated for specialised educational programs and practices such as music lessons, dance classes or play activities, along with improvements to play areas or outdoor environments.
The $10 million program was introduced in early 2018 and more than 400 grants were awarded in the first round. Some of the funding went towards playground renovations, carpet replacements and garden revamps.
Minister for Early Childhood Education Sarah Mitchell said she listened to feedback from the sector and broadened the scope of the program so funding could also cover specialised educational programs as well as the enhancement of the service’s physical environment.
“We had a hugely successful take-up of the first round of Quality Learning Environments grants, so I look forward to seeing how community preschools utilise the next round of funding," said Ms Mitchell.
Applications for the second round close 9 November 2018.
