More recreational fishing opportunities this summer
Fishing Aggregating Devices (FADs) will be deployed this summer to help attract more fish to the NSW coast.
Thirty FADs will be anchored to the ocean floor up to 30 kilometres off the coast from Tweed Heads to Eden.
Each one will be fitted with a GPS tracker and a yellow buoy with a flashing beacon for safe navigation.
The warmer waters attract a variety of fish to NSW waters including dolphinfish, marlin and wahoo.
Minister for Primary Industries Niall Blair said he was looking forward to joining recreational fishers along the coastline to experience the incredible opportunities created by FADs.
“You’re bound for a good day of fishing when you head to one of our FADs – it’s action-packed and you’ll be hooked,” Mr Blair said
Recreational fishers can find their nearest FAD by downloading the free FishSmart app.
