Who we are

The NSW Reconstruction Authority (RA) was created to help reduce the impact of future disasters across NSW and to support communities to recover more quickly.

When disasters happen, our teams work closely with emergency services and local leaders to understand what communities need. Once the immediate danger has passed, we lead recovery efforts in partnership with communities and other organisations to help people rebuild and move forward.

How is the RA helping NSW prepare for the future?

The State Disaster Mitigation Plan (SDMP) is a NSW Government plan that guides how we manage risk from natural hazards like floods, bushfires, storms, cyclones and coastal erosion. It helps us understand these hazards, reduce their impacts, and better prepare our communities for the future.

This work is vital. It helps protect homes and businesses, supports faster recovery, and strengthens the safety and resilience of communities right across NSW.
