Example stock permit (long term grazing)
When you receive your Stock Permit – Grazing stock on a controlled travelling stock reserve (Long Term), please check that the details are correct.
Your permit will include:

- Schedule 2 - Conditions
- Schedule 3 - Map
- Schedule 4 - Interpretation
- Appendix A - Payment schedule.

Schedule 1 - Description of permit
This will show the details of the relevant TSR, details of the permit holder, and what activities have been authorised.

Schedule 4 - Interpretation
In this permit:
- words importing the singular number include the plural, and
- references to statutes, regulations or instruments includes all statutes, regulations or instruments amending, consolidating or replacing them.
Unless otherwise defined below, words and expressions that are defined in the Act or Regulations have the same meaning in this permit.
Aboriginal place has the same meaning given to that term in the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
Aboriginal object has the same meaning given to that term in the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974.
Act means the Local Land Services Act 2013.
Consent means a written notice given by an Authorised Officer of LLS providing approval of some thing or matter.
Groundcover Vegetation means any plant material (alive or dead) found on or near the soil surface that protects the soil from the erosive action of wind and water.
Heritage Items means any items of state heritage significance or local heritage significance under the Heritage Act 1977.
Identified Improvements means the Improvements identified on the map in Schedule 3.
Improvements means all buildings, structures, facilities, infrastructure and works situated or to be situated in, on, or under the TSR.
LLS means Local Land Services.
Livestock includes (but is not limited to) the following animals; cattle, sheep, horses, chickens, pigs and goats.
MLA Pasture Ruler means a ruler that provides the basis to estimate pasture quantity and quality.
Notice means a notice that is either (a) provided in in writing and hand delivered or emailed, or (b) by telephone call
Overgrazing means excessive grazing by stock, without sufficient recovery periods, to the point where damage to vegetation, soil and/or stock occurs.
Note: One or more of the following are indicators of overgrazing:
- decreased groundcover vegetation
- fence-line effects (excessive grazing pressures against fence-lines),
- the proportion of unpalatable plant species present are increasing,
- perennial bushes are defoliating through browsing pressure,
- shrubs are exhibiting an obvious graze line effect,
- visible soil erosion (water and/or wind), and
- increased watering point footprint.
Person has the same meaning given to that term in the Interpretation Act 1987.
Permit Holder means the person identified in Schedule 1, item 3, along with any person who is acting on their behalf, under their management or direction, or is employed by them
Regulations means the Local Land Services Regulation 2014.
Stock-proof means fences or gates which are sufficient for the exclusion of stock.
Temporary Improvement means an Improvement that is:
- a water tank,
- a trough,
- a holding yard, or
- electric fencing materials,
that is not a fixture to the land and can be removed from the TSR without leaving the land damaged.
Term means the period specified in item 2 of Schedule 1.
TSR means the travelling stock reserve specified in item 1 of Schedule 1.
