Special Commission of Inquiry into the NSW Crime Commission

About the Inquiry

The Inquiry looked at whether the NSW Crime Commission is complying with the NSW Crime Commission Act 1988 and the Criminal Assets Recovery Act 1990 in the exercise of its functions.

The Inquiry came about after former assistant director of the NSW Crime Commission, Mark William Standen, had been found guilty of:

• conspiring to import drugs
• taking part in the supply of drug
• conspiring to pervert the course of justice.

The guilty verdict led to significant concern about the performance, integrity and governance structures of the NSW Crime Commission.

Commissioner David Patten reported a number of recommendations.
