Baby Massage Demonstration for Parents

The Infant Massage Information Service (IMIS) is holding a free introductory baby massage session for parents and babies in Sydney. This practical session introduces parents to safe, responsive infant massage and simple techniques that can be used at home. The session includes demonstrations and discussion on recognising and responding to infant cues, asking permission before massage, when massage may need to be avoided or adapted, and choosing appropriate oils and products for a baby's skin. Parents will also be introduced to massage techniques for the legs, abdomen, chest and back. The focus is on helping parents build confidence while following their baby's individual cues. Parents are welcome to feed, cuddle or settle their baby, change a nappy or take a break whenever needed. Expectant parents are also welcome to attend and observe. IMIS provides infant massage education throughout Australia, including professional training for those wishing to become qualified infant massage instructors.
