Overview of this event
Australia’s Biggest Little Fringe Festival, Newcastle Fringe (NFF) is turning 10 this year. Widely considered to be the largest and fastest growing grass-roots regional arts festival in NSW, this ‘little festival that could’ punches above its weight and is just a short two-hour journey from Sydney. It’s connected by rail and air and was recently voted by Time Out as one of the most underrated travel destinations in the world.
Featuring a program of extraordinary creativity, diversity and artistic expression. With 235 shows of 97 acts and 612 artists performing at 15 venues over ten days and two weekends, it’s time to get yourself to Newy! There are international, interstate and local artists, many award-winning and touring from Adelaide Fringe.
NFF is about discovery—whether it’s laughing at a hilarious adult puppet show, being wowed by avant-garde dance, or watching a burlesque that pushes your buttons. Expect international acts, comedy legends like Jean Kittson, screen actors like Rob Carlton, returning favourites, award-winning cabaret, burlesque, kids’ shows, music, theatre, political satire, and loads more!
The Newy Fringe experience is affordable, authentic and surprising, filled with fabulous dining, spectacular beaches and a hop skip and a jump away from Hunter Valley wine country. It’s the perfect, quirky, fun escape. You can even bring the kids!
