Kylie Captain is a proud Gamilaroi woman, raised in the inner-Sydney suburbs of Redfern and Waterloo, whose work has impacted the lives of many. Kylie is the founder of Dream Big Education Wellbeing & Consulting, and President of the Aboriginal Studies Association. Over the past 2 decades she has built an impressive career in Aboriginal education, finance and community services.
Kylie facilitates Aboriginal cultural capability training and professional learning for teachers and leaders. Her dedication to nurturing young people is evident in her inspiring student workshops and keynote addresses. Kylie shares her story of loss and circumstance, revealing the inspiration that enabled her to overcome her challenges. Along with her own grit and determination, Kylie attributes her success to the power of education and the difference one teacher made to her life.
Kylie has written several books, the second of which she co-authored with that teacher, Dr Cathie Burgess. From breaking the cycle to the power of education, Kylie’s story is testament to the strength of culture, kin and connection to Country. Kylie uses her experiences to make a difference in the lives of many – one student, school and organisation at a time.
