
NSW Women's Week
NSW Women’s Week 2025 is set to kick off from Sunday 2 March to Saturday 8 March. Promising a dynamic series of events, focusing on inclusivity and celebrating the achievements of women across NSW.
Events will showcase the remarkable stories and accomplishments of women and girls from diverse backgrounds, including:
- Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander
- culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD)
- those living with disability
- LGBTIQA+
- those living in regional, rural and remote NSW.
The week-long celebration will connect, celebrate, and pay tribute to women through a series of engaging events being delivered thanks to the NSW Women's Week grants program and culminates with the announcement of the recipients of the NSW Women of the Year Awards 2025.

Women NSW are proud to support a program of events designed to celebrate, connect and honour the women and girls in our lives. There is something for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds, and we encourage the public to find out what is happening in their communities and get involved.

2 - 8 March | Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) | Yinaagirbang Maywang (Women Together) is for Aboriginal women and girls to come together to learn and share and provide guidance for future generations grounded in culture. Focusing on wellbeing, community and cultural connections a series of workshops over the week will include: Wiradjuri language, bush foods and medicines, possum skin, weaving, storytelling, making your mark, wellbeing, on Country walk and moving forward. A community exhibition will celebrate the week and share outcomes of the event with the wider community. 2 March: Sydney 8 March: Wagga Wagga 8 March: Griffith | Nourishing Women: A Path to Health and Empowerment | "Nourishing Women: A Path to Health and Empowerment" is a week-long initiative dedicated to enhancing the health literacy, physical and mental well-being, and community connections of Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) women in NSW. Taking place from 2nd to 8th March at community centres in Wagga Wagga, Griffith, and Sydney, this event provides a safe and inclusive space for women to learn, connect, and celebrate their heritage. The program features interactive workshops on nutrition, fitness, mental health, and leadership, led by experts from within the CALD community. Attendees will also experience vibrant cultural performances by women and girls, reflecting their unique traditions. Additionally, guests will enjoy authentic Nepalese and Indian cuisine, offering a taste of rich cultural heritage through food. Through education, empowerment, and cultural celebration, this event fosters confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of community. 3 - 8 March | Paint the Town Femme | "Paint the Town Femme" invites young women and First Nations artists to transform Kiama, Gerringong, and Minnamura with stunning public art. Enjoy live painting, participate in free community workshops, and celebrate creativity through vibrant art installations. 3 - 7 March | Because of Her, We Can | Maari Ma provides services and programs for Aboriginal women and girls in Broken Hill, Wilcannia, Menindee and Balranald, and will run Women's Week events in those communities.The focus will be health and wellbeing, with information on health checks and screening, while we provide a healthy lunch, some pampering, and some giveaways, particularly for our elders. In Broken Hill, Kylie Captain, an Aboriginal educator, author and wellbeing advocate, will address the luncheon. Tuesday 4 March 11am-2pm, Tamworth Wednesday 5 March 10am-1:30pm, Armidale Thursday 6 March 10am-1:30pm, Coffs Harbour | Moving Forward Towards Change: Celebrating the diversity of regional women | SSI is committed to the integration of newcomers and fostering connections between migrant and Aboriginal communities. Three events will take place. Locations are Coffs Harbour, Tamworth, and Armidale. These gatherings will bring together women from diverse cultural backgrounds, including Aboriginal and country women, to connect and share experiences. Round table discussion will focus on opportunities for economic participation and engagement with the broader community. Different groups get to know each other to better understand and appreciate diversity in the community and reciprocal benefits. The keynote speaker is the CEO of the National Rural Women’s Coalition, Keli Macdonald. 4 - 7 March | Period Power | Interrelate, in partnership with Share the Dignity, is proud to be holding a series of menstrual education events in local schools in the communities of Coonamble, Cobar, and Bourke. Our goal: to empower girls aged around 10 to 12 to manage their periods with dignity and foster understanding about menstrual health. Interrelate’s highly experienced Relationships and Sexuality Education educators will present a tailored and culturally safe “Managing Menstruation” education program. Every girl will leave empowered and confident, and will receive a Share the Dignity teen ‘It’s in the Bag’ filled with personal care items. We will also be holding an educational session for teachers and community leaders to provide them with the latest accurate information and appropriate language around menstruation to help equip those with influence with the knowledge that enables them to create an environment where young women feel safe, supported and empowered. 4 - 8 March | Resillience and Radiance | The "Resilience and Radiance" art exhibition showcases the work of women artists who identify as LGBTQIA+. The week-long program includes guided tours, guest speakers, and panel discussions. "Resilience and Radiance" is designed to foster inclusivity, support underrepresented artists, and engage the community in meaningful dialogue about the experiences and roles of women and LGBTQIA+ people. The exhibition will take place at Gallery Lane Cove, an accessible space managed by Centrehouse Inc and owned by Lane Cove Council. More information coming soon. | Lane Cove Council |
Wednesday 5 March 3pm - 5pm | Through Adversity to the Stars: Women in Military Aviation in Australia | Discover some of the inspiring stories of Australian women in military aviation from the Second World War and beyond for a special afternoon of talks at the Anzac Memorial, Hyde Park. From the legendary “Searchlight Girls” who defended New South Wales against enemy aircraft during the Second World War, to the Royal Australian Air Force’s women fighter pilots of today, the talks will celebrate the incredible contributions of Australian women in military aviation. Hear three captivating presentations from leading experts and get up close to fascinating artefacts from the Anzac Memorial’s collection.

Wednesday 5 March 6pm - 9pm | Wellbeing Through Art | Join in person or online for Wellbeing Through Art, presented by Accessible Arts and the Art Gallery of NSW in celebration of NSW Women’s Week 2025. Speakers including Em Rusciano and Hiromi Tango will talk about the myriad benefits of art in an engaging exploration of health, wellbeing and diverse creative expression. Thursday 6 March 9am-6pm | Breaking Ground: Women in Arts and Creativity Symposium | This hybrid symposium will showcase the strengths and challenges of CaLD, CaRM, Bla(c)k, migrant, refugee women and gender-diverse folk in the NSW arts, screen, and creative sectors. The event will feature music, performances, panel discussions, and networking opportunities. It will be live-streamed and audiovisually documented. Friday 7 March 6pm - 8pm | NSW Women Veterans Reception at NSW Parliament House | A special reception for women veterans and women who are currently serving in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) at Parliament House, Sydney. Gather and connect with other women who have served and hear from Major General Ana Duncan AM CSC, Commander of the Australian Army’s Forces Command, as she shares inspiring reflections on her journey and experience as a servicewoman. Major General Duncan was the inaugural Commander of Cyber Command, and the second woman to be appointed as the Commander Forces Command. With 30 years’ experience in leadership, management and national security, Major General Duncan has held senior command and leadership roles in the Department of Defence, the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, and on operations. If you are a woman who has served or is currently serving in the Australia Defence Force, we invite you to join us at this special event recognising your service, to and to connect with other women veterans. Saturday 8 March 10am | Glen Innes International Women's Day Event | Glen Innes VIEW Club is hosting the 2025 VIEW 65th Sapphire Anniversary Gala celebration and IWD at the Glen Innes & District Services Club with Nicole Overall MLC (author and historian, first female member for the Monaro in 160 years) as the keynote speaker. This will be a truly wonderful event and coup for Glen Innes. Saturday 8 March 7pm - 8:30pm | Women's Work | Randwick Town Hall is illuminated with fierce female leads as women’s voices vibrate across the night. Soak in the sounds of six musical acts across an hour and a half as some of Sydney’s most exciting singers descend on Randwick. "Women’s Work" highlights the multidisciplinary creative talents of women – staged inside the annual Women’s Art Prize which features 150 artworks by women of all ages. Explore artworks large and small across painting, drawing, textile, sculpture, and digital media then relax into sonic sensations reverberating across the town hall. Full lineup released soon. Friday 7 March 6:30pm - 8:30pm Saturday 8 March 1:30pm - 3:30pm 6:30pm - 8:30pm | Khair (خير): An Omen, A Message, A Blessing | Khair (خير) is a new Western Sydney theatre work created and performed by six local women, supported by an all-female technical and creative crew. Premiering during International Women’s Week 2025, the event invites local women to share food, theatre, and culture with their friends. This camp supernatural comedy, developed by an all women, culturally diverse team, explores the healing spaces ethnic women find in hair salons. The day will include high tea from local businesses and performances by young women from the community. Tickets are $15, with 20 tickets per show reserved for volunteers and community members who may not be able to afford them. Saturday 8 March 7pm Saturday 15 March 10am | Her Journey Netball Clinic | Her Journey: Join us for a night to remember as we celebrate International Women's Day with 'Her Journey' - a special event honouring the success of Tongan and Pacific Islander women in our community. Enjoy an unforgettable evening with live band and entertainment, food and special guests. It's a celebration you don't want to miss! Tickets start from $85 and you can find more information here. Netball Clinic: Come and celebrate Pacific Island women with a fun day using netball to empower and bring the community together. Saturday 8 March 10am-4pm | Rise & Shine: Gamilaroi Women’s Week Celebration | This culturally significant event aims to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women and girls, with a focus on the Gamilaroi community in Walhallow, NSW. The day will include cultural workshops, storytelling sessions led by Elders, and a community celebration featuring traditional arts performances and displays. The event addresses the community's need for recognition, empowerment, and connection, providing a space for women to celebrate their achievements, share their stories, and strengthen their cultural identity. Saturday 8 March 4pm-11:30pm | African Women Celebration Week | African Sub-Sahara International Development Agency (ASSIDA) will host a one day event during NSW Women's Week, an African Women's Celebration Week that celebrates African cultures and languages, and will include food stalls, activities, and performances. This event will be family friendly and open to everyone who wants to learn about and celebrate African women/culture. It is also an opportunity to discuss and promote gender equality and empower the girls and women from Sub-Sahara Africa.
