About us
Southern NSW LHD spans 44,537 square kilometre and covers the NSW South Coast, Southern Tablelands, the Great Dividing Range, the Snowy Mountains, stretching to the Victorian border and surrounds of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Our District is diverse and geographically spread across 7 Local Government Areas encompassing the Bega Valley, Eurobodalla, Goulburn Mulwaree, Queanbeyan-Palerang, Snowy Monaro, Upper Lachlan, and Yass Valley. We are home to five large Aboriginal nations of the Gundungurra, Ngunnawal, Ngambri, Ngarigo and Yuin peoples.
As a major local employer, our staff of over 3000 are part of our local communities. Our healthcare facilities are divided into two geographic networks (inland and coastal), across 15 sites. This enables those in each region to get the right care, at the right time, in the right place.
This includes:
9 hospitals
3 multipurpose services
1 HealthOne facility
12 public inpatient facilities
Our multipurpose services (MPS) combine a range of community health, aged care, and emergency services. Each MPS is tailored to meet the community’s unique clinical needs. Hospitals with higher level services are strategically connected to smaller facilities providing emergency and basic care. We partner with ACT Health and major Sydney hospitals for to support local patients who require high-level specialist care.
Our hospitals and community health centres provide a range of services including: emergency care, intensive care, coronary care, maternity, acute medical and surgical services, sub-acute, primary and community services and mental health services.

Our purpose is to improve the wellbeing of the community we serve by providing person-centred and integrated care.
Our vision is to support our communities to lead healthy lives.
Our values of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment help us to embrace cultural diversity and to treat all people with dignity and compassion.
- Elevate the human experience.
- Keeping people healthy and well.
- Delivering safe care in all settings.
- Supporting our people.
