Call the NSW Mental Health Line on 1800 011 511 (free call, operates 24 hours, 7 days) for professional help and advice, and for referrals to local mental health services.
Our public health unit works to identify, prevent and minimise public health risks to our community. They oversee areas including immunisation, infectious disease control, environmental health, sexual health, HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis. This service is managed and cared for by both Murrumbidgee and Southern NSW Local Health Districts.

Feedback, complaints and concerns
At Southern NSW LHD, we aim to provide the best health care possible to our communities. Hearing feedback and suggestions from the people we care for is an important part of this.
Everyone seeking or receiving healthcare in NSW has certain rights. NSW Health has adopted the Australian Charter of Healthcare Rights, second edition and the Charter on the Rights of Children and Young People in Healthcare Services in Australia (the Charters).
If you want to tell us about something we did well or not so well for you or your loved one, we're keen to know so we can understand and work with you to improve our services.
There are a number of ways you can get in touch.
Let the staff involved in your care know that you have a concern. You can also ask someone you trust to speak with staff on your behalf.
If you're worried about a change in your condition or someone you're caring for, reach out to the care staff or the manager of the service.
If you're still worried, you can contact the REACH team for an independent assessment.
You can contact the site managerof the facility. Site Managers are available Monday to Friday, during business hours or for urgent assistance please ask to speak with the Senior Nurse on duty.

Complaint investigation and resolution can be a complicated and highly sensitive process for all parties involved. We aim to resolve complaints raised within 35 days. If your complaint is complex, it may take longer – if this is the case, we will contact you to let you know.

Access to information held by all government agencies, including Southern NSW Local Health District, is governed by the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (GIPA Act).
The GIPA Act requires us to release information unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure. Visit the Information and Privacy Commission NSW (IPC) website or the NSW Health website for more information.
How to make a formal GIPA request
If you would like to make an application for Southern NSW LHD information (either personal on non-personal) under GIPA you must submit a valid application.

A valid formal application for access to government information must:
- be completed in writing, stating that it is made under the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009 (NSW)
- have an Australian postal address for return correspondence
- provide enough details to help the agency identify the information you want
- include application fee payment of $30 You can pay this online via the NSW Payment Portal or by sending a cheque (made payable to Southern NSW LHD).
For personal information requests, a certified copy of your identification should be included. Please note there may be further processing charges for your GIPA application.

Southern NSW LHD has a centralised service point that receives and responds to Chapter 16A requests for the Southern NSW Local Health District.
Under Chapter 16A of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act 1998 an organisation that is a prescribed body can be requested to provide and share any information it holds relating to the safety, welfare or wellbeing of a particular child or young person.
