Parramatta Light Rail launches art initiative with local talent

The Parramatta Light Rail Art Strategy will see the installation of artwork on light rail stop service cabinets, windscreens and surrounding areas over the next 12 months, while a unique mural will transform the new public underpass at Leamington Road, Dundas.

Parramatta-based artist Nadia Odlum was selected from more than 40 artists across NSW to create a vibrant mural for the Leamington Road underpass.

Construction of the underpass was completed last year as part of the Stage 1 project, providing a vital link for pedestrians and cyclists to Dundas Public School, Kissing Point Road and nearby homes.

Odlum is working with Dundas Public School students to contribute to the visual transformation of the underpass, which will reflect the way children use local environments. The mural will start taking shape early next year.

Additional artists are being selected to enhance light rail stop elements, showcase their talents and connect the community though shared stories.

Parramatta Light Rail Stage 1 will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and is expected to open in 2024.
