NESA strives to ensure students in NSW reach their highest potential at school. The 2017–2018 annual report highlights NESA's goals, and how they've been achieved in the last year.
Achievements include:
- Reviewing the recommendations for the NSW curriculum – a key focus was placed on implementing the recommendations made to the NSW curriculum.
- Developing a NSW Education Strategy – creating a high-level plan until 2025 to improve educational outcomes in NSW.
- Focusing on the Premier's and State's priorities – including increasing the number of students in the top two NAPLAN bands, and increasing the number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students in the top two NAPLAN bands for reading and numeracy.
