What’s this about?

Western Harbour Tunnel is a major transport infrastructure project that will link WestConnex in Rozelle with the Warringah Freeway in North Sydney, bypassing Sydney’s CBD. This exciting new harbour crossing will give Sydney drivers more choice when getting around our city.

Western Harbour Tunnel is being built in 2 stages.

Stage 1

The southern section of the tunnel, Stage 1, is being delivered by John Holland CPB Contractors (JHCPB) and includes tunnel excavation from Emily Street in Rozelle to Cove Street in Birchgrove.

Stage 2

Stage 2 is being delivered by ACCIONA and includes connections from Stage 1 at Cove Street, Birchgrove, to the Warringah Freeway near North Sydney, tunnelling underneath Sydney Harbour and the complete tunnel fit-out.
