What’s this about?
More people are choosing to walk or ride a bike – and it’s easy to see why. It’s healthy, better for the environment, and can be a great way to get around.
Newtown is 1 of Sydney’s most vibrant suburbs, known for its local shops, art, and great food. Wilson Street is a popular bike route through the area, linking places like Carriageworks, nearby parks, and Moore Park.
But part of the cycleway along Wilson Street is missing, meaning riders share the road with cars and buses.
To make things safer, Transport for NSW is planning a new 2-way separated cycleway connecting Eliza Street to the existing cycleway east of Erskineville Road, along with a new loading zone, improved crossings and a resurfaced road.
We’ve made some changes to the initial design based on feedback, and now you can have your say on the Review of Environmental Factors.
