Young People in Custody Health Survey Report
The Young People in Custody Health Survey (YPICHS) was undertaken in 2003, 2009, and again in 2015 in collaboration with Justice Health and Forensic Mental Health Network. The latest iteration of YPICHS was conducted in late 2022 by Youth Justice NSW.
The survey provides a physical and mental health profile of the NSW custodial population, with data gathered through face-to-face interviews, mental health, and cognitive and language assessments.
