Drivers’ license and pink slip extensions
Time extensions to license renewals and pink slips will make life easier for NSW motorists.
By the first quarter of next year, 10 year drivers’ licences (instead of 5) will be available to drivers between the ages of 21 and 44.
This means drivers won’t have to make as many trips to a Roads and Maritime Services registry or Services NSW centre to renew their licence.
From the end of this year, pink slip times will also be extended from 6 weeks to 6 months. Meaning, vehicle owners will have more flexibility when choosing a time for their annual vehicle safety inspection.
Roads Minister Duncan Gay said the changes were all about removing red tape and making life easier for NSW motorists.
The changes will also reduce administrative costs, which are expected to save the NSW Government more than $3 million a year.
