Funding to repair and conserve war memorials
The Community War Memorials Fund (CWMF) offers grants of up to $10,000 to protect war memorials, statues, memorial gates, halls and honour rolls.
The State War Memorials Committee recommended the projects that received a total of $125,000 in this round of funding, including:
- Rejuvenation of the Taree War Memorial Clock, which was originally erected in 1924.
- Cleaning and restoration of the World War Two Honour Board in Billimari, near Cowra.
- Painting of the Tullamore War Memorial Hall and Honour Roll, near Condobolin.
Minister for Veterans Affairs David Elliott said the projects had a significant value to the local community and acted as a reminder of the sacrifice made by the men and women who answered the call for service.
“These memorials act as a place of reflection and a reminder of the Australian spirit,” Mr Elliott said.
Applications for the next round of CWMF grants close on 25 April 2017.
