Sydney’s Sunpac Resources brokered the deal which will see NSW suppliers export $10 million worth of beef to China in 2014-2015.
Andrews Meat Industries in Lidcombe and Northern Cooperative Meat Company Limited in Casino are among the NSW suppliers involved in the agreement.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said the beef exports are expected to generate even more interest in NSW’s diverse produce.
“In 2012-13 Australia exported more than $357 million in beef to China and there is clear potential for massive growth in this area with Chinese beef imports expected to increase 7% annually to 2022.”
“It’s another clear signal of the opportunities available for NSW’s abundance of fresh, high quality produce in China, and in other Asian markets.
The deal follows a recent agreement which will see Lismore-based Norco Co-operative supply fresh milk from northern NSW farms to the Chinese market.
