Privacy Awareness Week 2021 is encouraging citizens and government agencies to get involved and help make privacy a priority.

The campaign aims to highlight the importance of privacy and to raise awareness of NSW privacy legislation, privacy rights and agency obligations.
To encourage public sector agencies to Make Privacy a Priority during Privacy Awareness Week, Privacy Commissioner Samantha Gavel highlights three privacy resources:
- the Privacy by Design Fact Sheet
- Guide to Privacy Impact Assessments
- updated Data Breach Prevention Checklist
Commissioner Gavel says all NSW citizens have the right to their personal information being protected.
“The community expects that NSW Government agencies will protect their personal information appropriately and good privacy practice by agencies ensures that citizens can have trust in government services,” Commissioner Gavel said.
The Privacy Awareness Week website includes resources for citizens to assist them in understanding their rights.
Privacy Awareness Week NSW 2021 will start from Monday 3 May 2021 until Friday 7 May 2021.
