The 2018-19 NSW Budget will provide $15.6 million for extra bus services in areas where people need them the most. These areas include the Northern Beaches, Wentworth Point, Penrith, Blacktown and Lane Cove.
Over the next year, there will be 1000 extra weekly bus services in the Northern Beaches and 500 extra weekly services in Western Sydney.
Route 533 from Sydney Olympic Park to Chatswood via Wentworth Point will start operating through Wentworth Park during weekdays and on weekends, instead of only during peak periods.
Minister for Transport Andrew Constance said in addition to delivering thousands of extra bus services, the NSW Government will purchase over 30 new buses and replace 400 buses.
“Around 20 of these new buses will cater for the increased demand in school services across the state,” Mr Constance said.
The extra services are part of the $1.5 billion investment in the network across NSW. This includes improvements to outer metropolitan services to support new residential developments in the Lower Hunter and the Illawarra.
