Paving the way for women returning to work

The Return to Work Program helps equip women with the information, technology and financial support they need to get back into the workforce.

""

Female-dominated industries and workers were hit hard by the pandemic, highlighting the importance of women to the long-term health of our economy. Now, more than ever, they need to be supported to get into or return to the workforce.

Financial and moral support

The Return to Work Program supports women looking for work with grants to purchase equipment, education and training, transport, childcare and other associated costs to get back into the workforce. They also have the personalised support of a coordinator who helps them develop their Return to Work Plan.

Help for women in need

An earlier phase of the program particularly focused on helping survivors of domestic violence, who often have to leave violent homes suddenly and without anything. For those who remain, research shows that financial issues are the key barriers holding many women back from leaving. Many find it difficult to participate in work or study, especially faced with the cost of education and childcare, and limited access to technology. A supported road to financial independence is crucial to rebuilding their lives.

Empowering women in need of work

Financial support to secure a job can help build confidence and financial independence. The program has already helped thousands of women meet their employment and education goals. For more information, a Return to Work Toolkit is available to provide additional employment resources and information for women.

“I have found a work placement 1 day a week for my studies. The program has helped me learn English, study new skills and potentially find a job in my preferred field.”

“I feel very fortunate to have been given this grant as even the childcare helped me better prepare to re-enter the job market and get ready with applications and interviews.”
