The Review concluded that the statutory complaints system in NSW is well designed and does not require any major changes.
Many of the shortcomings of the HCCC in its investigation into Campbelltown and Camden Hospitals were related not to the statutory framework itself but to the failure of the HCCC to comply with its statutory obligations.
The Commissioner recommended that some changes to the statutory framework should be considered because they ‘offer real prospect of improvement’.
