WestConnex is the largest infrastructure project in Australia, linking Western and South Western Sydney with the city, airport and port in a 33-kilometre continuous motorway.
Motorists will be able to bypass up to 52 sets of traffic signals from Beverly Hills to Parramatta.
Key benefits of WestConnex include:

WestConnex also links Greater Sydney to major international gateways at Sydney Airport and Port Botany, and the future Western Harbour Tunnel, BeachesLink and F6 extension.

The M4 has been widened to four lanes in each direction and motorists are already enjoying quicker and more reliable journeys between Parramatta and Homebush.
Customers in Western Sydney are looking forward to saving up to 40 minutes on the journey from Parramatta to Sydney Airport when WestConnex is completed in 2023.
How is the project tracking?
A wider M4 from Parramatta to Homebush opened to traffic in 2017. The new M4 East tunnels between Homebush and Haberfield opened to traffic on 13 July 2019.
The new M5 will open in 2020 and provide twin underground tunnels, stretching nine kilometres from Kingsgrove to St Peters. In preparation for the new M5, an upgrade of the King Georges Road interchange between the M5 West Motorway and the M5 East Motorway at Beverly Hills was opened to traffic in early 2017.
The M4-M5 Link features twin tunnels connecting the New M4 at Haberfield to the New M5 at St Peters, as well as an underground bypass of Victoria Road between the Iron Cove and Anzac Bridges. This project received planning approval in April 2018 and is the final and most critical component of WestConnex.
