We safeguard consumer rights, regulate specific industries, occupations and consumer transactions, and advise traders on fair and ethical business practices. Our role includes regulation, education, compliance and enforcement.
Implementing and enforcing the laws in NSW relating to
Providing support for renting, home building and renovating, and strata.
Implementing rules and processes around raising funds for charitable purposes in NSW.
Supporting and protecting consumer rights in NSW.
Providing support for starting or running associations, co-operatives and funeral funds.
Enforcing consumer rights when buying, selling, maintaining or repairing a vehicle in NSW.
Implementing rules around community gaming activities and trade promotions.
Providing regulatory functions and services for
NSW Fair Trading supports the NSW community to exercise their consumer rights.
NSW Fair Trading ensure that businesses and rental providers do the right thing.
We fund assistance and advocacy services for consumers and renters experiencing vulnerability. We also administer a number of funds and schemes including Rental Bonds, Retail Bonds, the Property Services Compensation Fund, the Motor Dealers and Repairs Compensation Fund, and the Newsagents Assistance Fund.
