The controlling manager of the company, Aden Rashid Nawaz Bhatt, also known as Aden Nawaz, was also fined $45,000 during sentencing in Parramatta Local Court on 5 April 2024.
Some of the community organisations impacted paid for products for specific events and raised money from their supporters and players to fund an order they never received.
In one instance, Ngaru Pou Inc. Kapahaka Group (Kapahaka Group), a Maori children’s performing arts group, paid a total of $10,501 to Beastwear in 2019 for training shirts, T-shirts, jumpers, and tracksuit pants.
Kapahaka Group followed up on the undelivered items several times but the goods were not received and no refund was made.
The Ormeau Bulldogs AFL Club (Ormeau Club) paid Beastwear $17,603 in 2020 for the delivery of more than 1,000 pieces of sports clothing including jerseys, shorts, socks, singlets, and polo shirts.
The club received some items, but the delivery fell short by about 700 pieces with no refund provided for the missing items.
Mr Bhatt pleaded guilty to seven charges of being knowingly concerned in Beastwear accepting payment of goods and failing to supply in a reasonable time.
