About our services
Western NSW LHD provides a range of specialist cancer care services to people living with or beyond cancer, and their families.
We aim to provide outpatient consultations and treatment as close to home as possible. This includes virtual consultations where appropriate.
Our radiation oncology service provides modern, sub-specialist radiotherapy treatment at Dubbo and Orange. Western NSW LHD has a Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scanner at Dubbo.
Our cancer services cater to:
- people recently diagnosed with cancer
- people undergoing treatment
- people living after treatment.

We also provide outpatient consultations and treatment at Cobar, Cowra, Mudgee and Parkes Health Services.

About the service
Cobar Hospital provides outpatient specialist medical oncology consultation appointments for people with cancer.
Low risk chemotherapy and other treatments are provided weekly. This is through the Remote Video Assisted Chemotherapy initiative, supported by oncology nurses at Western Cancer Centre Dubbo.

Cowra Hospital offers outpatient specialist medical oncology and haematology consultation.
Chemotherapy and other systemic treatments are also available during business hours, four days a week.

Mudgee Hospital provides outpatient specialist medical oncology and haematology consultation.
Chemotherapy and other systemic treatments are provided during business hours, two days a week.

Support and counselling for people with cancer
Supportive resources, including cancer care coordinators, social workers, and specialist nurses, are available to assist individuals with cancer and their loved ones with a range of services.
Cancer care coordinators provide care coordination, clinical information, assistance with appointments, travel and accommodation, and general support to patients and families from the time of a new cancer diagnosis.

Social workers are based at Bathurst, Orange and Dubbo. They provide support and counselling for people with cancer, their partners, carers and families.

McGrath Breast Care Nurses are based at Bathurst, Dubbo, Mudgee, Orange and Parkes. They can advise, support and care for people with breast cancer and their families from the time of diagnosis.
